BOSTON - Police have identified a suspect in an armed robbery at Northeastern University that prompted a SWAT team response on Wednesday.
Two people met in Burnstein Hall at about 11 p.m. for what was believed to be a drug deal.
The suspect pulled out a gun and demanded the other person’s laptop computer, then fled the area, according to police.
The victim told university police about the incident and they began investigating, when a Northeastern University police officer heard a voice inside of a Wentworth Institute building at 550 Parker Avenue, and believed the voice was that of the suspect.
The Boston Police SWAT Team was called, but the suspect was not found.
After an investigation, officers have identified the suspect as Akil Washington, 24, of Lincoln, Mass.
There is a warrant now out for his arrest on armed robbery charges.
