LYNN (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A homeless man was arrested for the attempted rape of a Lynn teenager at the Central Square Commuter Rail station in Lynn.
The Lynn Item reports 23-year-old Joseph Sarcione is being arraigned today in Lynn District Court.
Sarcione is accused if terrorizing the 17-year-old victim, allegedly choking and trying to rape her around 9:30 p.m. Sunday at the station.
The victim is a former student at Lynn Tech. She says Sarcione asked her for a light for his cigarette and then followed her onto an elevator, where he assaulted her from behind. Relatives of the victim told the newspaper the teen was being choked into unconsciousness and she tried to fight him off the best she could.
The elevator door opened and two unidentified men rushed over and saved the victim as soon as the elevator door opened. Sarcione ran away during the scuffle and the two men brought the victim to the Lynn Police Department to report the ordeal.
MBTA Transit Police then obtained a warrant for Sarcione on charges he raped a woman June 6. Read the full story on the Daily Item Web site .
