BOSTON (FOX25, myfoxboston) - Teenagers from across the state are planning to march on Beacon Hill to push for youth jobs funding in the upcoming state budget.
Organizers of today's event say two state-funded summer teen jobs programs were cut by 50 percent in the current state budget. They're calling on state lawmakers to restore the funding before the end of the school year.
The march is scheduled to begin at Park Street station at about 1:45 p.m. and end with an indoor rally at the Statehouse at 3 p.m.
Organizers say hundreds of teens and adults are expected at the march, which will also highlight the importance of teen workers to their local community's economy.
