TEMPLETON, Mass. - A Templeton man was evicted Tuesday morning from the shed he was living in, which was built on town property. The town bulldozed the shed after the eviction.

Raymond C. Brouillet was arrested for trespassing after refusing to leave the shack at the intersection of Cross and Hubbardston roads, according to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette.

He spoke with FOX25 and said it took him two weeks to build the shed. He has been living there for about a week with no electricity or running water. He says he has been researching property for five years unable to find an owner and doesn't feel the town was able to provide proof of ownership.

Selectmen last night refused Brouillet's claim of ownership of property.

"I have title by possession," the homeless man told the Board of Selectmen after they asked to see his title to the land, the Telegram & Gazette reported.

The 53-year-old was at the selectmen's meeting in a last-ditch effort to stop the eviction. He claims he is the owner of the land and had posted "no trespassing" signs around the property.

At his arraignment, he was released on no bail on a trespassing charge and ordered to stay away from the property in Templeton.

Brouillet is due back in court Jan. 5.
