BOSTON - A Massachusetts man charged in a terror plot to kill two prominent U.S. politicians and shoot people at American shopping malls is due back court.

Tarek Mehanna, of Sudbury, is accused of conspiring with two other men to provide support to terrorists.

Prosecutors say the men tried to get into terrorist training camps in the Middle East. When that failed, they talked about killing two members of the executive branch of the U.S. government and plotted to randomly shoot shoppers at malls. Authorities say they also discussed killing American soldiers in Iraq.

The 27-year-old Mehanna is scheduled to appear in federal court in Boston on Friday for a detention hearing. Prosecutors say they will ask that Mehanna be held without bail. His family denies the charges.
