Voters kick incumbents out of office

It’s the day after election day, and from Massachusetts to New jersey, some incumbent politicians are looking for a new job.

It’s usually a huge advantage to be an incumbent in Massachusetts and everywhere else, but that may be coming to an end.

Are voters sending a message? The results yesterday are a sure sign many voters are not happy.

The mayors of North Adams, Brockton, Lynn, Worcester, and the governor of New Jersey Jon Corzine were all thrown out yesterday.

“Winning is a lot sweeter, and if you don't think last night was sweet you need to see a doctor,” said Republican Party Chairman Michael Steele said.

The mini-revolt is sending a clear message to lawmakers around the country: don’t expect to cruise to re-election.

Unless of course you’re Tom Menino, who showed once again he's immune to anti-incumbency movements.

The results also could be bad news for Gov. Deval Patrick’s re-election bid, and it may give just a little hope to Republicans looking to win Ted Kennedy’s senate seat.
