ORANGE (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - State police say a 59-year-old North Adams woman is dead after a compact hatchback she was driving on Route 2 eastbound veered across the median and crashed into two other vehicles in Orange.
Five other people were taken to Athol Memorial Hospital on Friday afternoon, including 47-year-old Susan Dearborn of Stow who was later transferred to the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester with serious injuries.
An 11-year-old Stow boy suffered minor injuries and a 7-year-old girl, also from Stow, was taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police withheld the identity of the dead driver pending family notification.
Drivers of other vehicles involved in the crash, identified as 25-year-old Catherine Runge of Quincy and 45-year-old John F. Maquire III of Stow, suffered minor injuries.
