WAKEFIELD (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A Wakefield woman is doing OK after she was jolted by a bolt of lightning that apparently hit her home.
JoAnn Frechette, 55, was taken to Melrose Wakefield Hospital this morning. According to her husband, Tony, she was ironing clothes at around 7:30 at her Bryant Street home when a jolt of electricity traveled through the appliance and shocked her.
The lightning strike knocked Frechette off of her feet and sent her flying about six feet.
Tony Frechette says he was at work when it happened and called home during the storm.
"I called to tell her to unplug the television and computer because the storm was so bad," Frechette said. "Then she told me she was hit."
Frechette says his wife is doing OK and should be home from the hospital this afternoon.
