(FOX25, myfoxboston) - This photo was allegedly taken by a member of an American Airlines crew.
It was posted on the website flightglobal.com by blogger Kieran Daly. American Airlines cannot confirm whether the photo is real.
"This is sent to me with the absolute assurance that it's a genuine picture taken by a flight attendant at American Airlines," Daly said.
The attendant allegedly said they took the photo to show their manager the difficulties they face with overweight passengers.
The photo was taken before the flight took off, and American Airlines said it is looking to see whether the situation compromised the safety of the passengers and crew.
Some airline companies like United Airways and Southwest require passengers of a certain size to pay for an extra seat. Carriers like Delta and American evaluate it on a case-by-case basis.
