LAWRENCE, Mass. (FOX25, myfoxboston) - A vote on a bill to help bail out the troubled city of Lawrence has been postponed due to inclement weather.
A spokesman says the House Ways and Means Committee said Tuesday that state lawmakers will review testimony from a hearing on the proposal and will revisit the issue after Wednesday's expected snowstorm.
State lawmakers are considering a bill that would give Lawrence a $35 million loan to help balance its books.
But opposition against the bill has mounted partly because new Mayor William Lantigua wants to keep his House seat.
Lantigua came under fire from fellow lawmaker Tuesday for not showing up to testify at the hearing and resisting calls to resign one of his seats.
Lawrence faces a financial deficit of about $24 million.
