(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - While most people had Labor Day off, many politicians used the day to work for votes.
State Treasurer and independent candidate Tim Cahill and Governor Deval Patrick joined Boston Mayor Tom Menino and other political and union leaders at the Greater Boston Labor Council's annual breakfast at the Park Plaza Hotel.
Cahill talked to us about how he wants a special legislative session called to get the casino bill passed and create jobs.
Governor Patrick tells FOX 25 he has done just that.
That casino bill didn't pass because Governor Patrick and the legislature butted heads over slot parlors.

The three major candidates for governor also skipped afternoon cookouts in favor of marching in the annual Labor Day parade.
Patrick and Cahill were joined by republican challenger Charlie Baker for marching in Marlboro today.
Baker using the holiday that recognizes the American worker to say how he will get more people back into the job force.
The state unemployment rate was 9% in July according to the Massachusetts department of workforce development.
That is below the national average of 9.6%
