OTTAWA - P.A. Parenteau scored the deciding goal in the seventh round of the shootout to give the New York Rangers a 2-1 victory over the Ottawa Senators on Saturday.
Parenteau, who missed an open net late in regulation, put a shot into the top right corner on New York's seventh attempt against Brian Elliott. Henrik Lundqvist stopped five Ottawa shooters, including Milan Michalek on the Senators' final attempt.
Vinny Prospal scored a short-handed goal midway through the second period for New York, which had lost eight of 11 (3-7-1).
Brian Lee scored Ottawa's goal in the second. The Senators have lost two straight and five of seven.
Devils 5, Capitals 2
NEWARK, N.J. -- Zach Parise's breakaway highlighted a three-goal second period and New Jersey won its eighth straight.
Jamie Langenbrunner and rookie Matt Halischuk also scored in the second as the Devils rallied from an early two-goal deficit to beat Washington for the third time this season.
Defenseman Colin White and Cory Murphy also scored and Martin Brodeur had 27 saves as New Jersey ended the Capitals' four-game winning streak.
Tomas Fleischmann and Mathieu Perreault scored in the opening 5:02 for Washington, but it was all New Jersey after that. The Devils scored five goals on 23 shots against Jose Theodore.
The Capitals played their sixth straight game without two-time NHL MVP Alex Ovechkin.
Sabres 3, Flyers 2
PHILADELPHIA --Tyler Ennis scored his first NHL goal and Ryan Miller stopped 29 shots to help Buffalo snap Philadelphia's five-game winning streak.
Thomas Vanek and Paul Gaustad also scored for the Sabres, who never trailed and won their third straight game.
Chris Pronger and Jeff Carter scored third-period goals for the Flyers.
Miller (12-2-1) was aided by a strong Buffalo defense that constantly thwarted the Flyers from in-close. He was at his best midway through the second period when he stopped Danny Briere and Scott Hartnell on the doorstep on successive flurries.
Red Wings 7, Ducks 4
DETROIT -- Henrik Zetterberg had three goals and two assists in Detroit's victory over Anaheim.
Dan Cleary added a goal and two assists, and Brian Rafalski had a goal and an assist for Detroit. Pavel Datsyuk and Darren Helm also scored, and Jimmy Howard made 19 saves.
Ryan Getzlaf had a goal and three assists, Corey Perry had a goal and an assist, and Bobby Ryan and Joffrey Lupul also scored for Anaheim. Jonas Hiller made 30 saves.
Eight goals were scored in a seesaw third period in which the Ducks tied the game three times and the Red Wings regained the lead three times.
Panthers 5, Islanders 4, SO
SUNRISE, Fla. -- Nathan Horton's wrist shot beat Dwayne Roloson in the fourth shootout round to lift Florida past the New York Islanders.
Cory Stillman, Rostislav Olesz, Stephen Weiss and Michael Frolik scored in regulation for the Panthers. Tomas Vokoun made 36 saves.
Tim Jackman, Trent Hunter, John Tavares and Kyle Okposo had the goals for New York. Roloson stopped 38 shots for the Islanders, who played for the third time in four nights. New York (7-6-7) won at Carolina in overtime on Friday night.
Okposo could have forced a fifth shootout round after Horton scored, but Vokoun made the save. Okposo's power-play goal at 15:14 of the third period moved the Islanders into a 4-4 tie.
The Panthers improved to 4-1 in shootouts this season, and the Islanders fell to 1-4.
Flames 5, Maple Leafs 2
TORONTO -- Jarome Iginla scored two goals, Miikka Kiprusoff made 38 saves, and Calgary beat Toronto.
Eric Nystrom, Dustin Boyd and Jay Bouwmeester also had goals for the Flames, who rebounded from a 2-1 shootout loss to Buffalo on Friday. Iginla and Nystrom scored 16 seconds apart in the first 1:37 of the game to give Calgary a 2-0 lead.
Francois Beauchemin and Matt Stajan scored for Toronto, which has earned four points in nine home games this season (1-6-2).
Penguins 6, Bruins 5, OT
PITTSBURGH -- Pascal Dupuis scored his second goal of the game 1:24 into overtime and Pittsburgh welcomed back star forward Evgeni Malkin by snapping its four-game losing streak.
Malkin, the reigning NHL scoring champion, had three assists in his return to the lineup after he missed seven games because of a shoulder injury.
Dupuis scored when Boston goalie Tim Thomas mistakenly left a puck along the boards. Pittsburgh's Jordan Staal picked it up and fed it to Dupuis, who tucked in his 100th NHL goal and fifth this season.
The Penguins' Bill Guerin sent it to overtime when he scored with 0.4 seconds left in regulation off a feed from Malkin.
The Bruins, 2-0-3 in their past five, scored twice during the final 5:47 of regulation to take their only lead. David Krejci's 5-on-3 goal tied it, and Marco Sturm put Boston ahead with 2:29 left.
Kings 2, Lightning 1, SO
TAMPA, Fla. -- Anze Kopitar scored the lone shootout goal as Los Angeles beat Tampa Bay.
Drew Doughty scored in regulation for the Kings, who won for the second time in five games. Jonathan Quick stopped 28 shots.
