FOXBORO, Mass. - Vince Wilfork said all along that he wanted a long term contract, and no matter what it took, he was going to get it.
On the first day of NFL free agency, Wilfork was rewarded by the Patriots for 6 years of service with a brand new contract extension
The deal is reportedly for five years and $40 million with $25 million of that guaranteed.
It also includes an $18 million dollar signing bonus, making Wilfork the highest paid nose tackle in the NFL.
On his wife's twitter page tonight, Wilfork said " we are pleased to say we will be here for many more years to come. My wife and I thank you and are getting back to our vacation now. Cya in Foxboro soon. "
With Wilfork locked up, the Pats also signed Tully Banta Cain to a 3-year extension.
