World's First Ice Cream Van for Dogs

(CANVAS STAFF REPORTS) - While pet owners might be concerned about keeping their four-legged pals cool during the dog days of summer, there is a new solution for those who live in Great Britain.

According to the Metro newspaper, the United Kingdom is where you'll find the world's first ice cream truck serving dogs.

Scheduled to tour around the U.K.'s parks for barks this summer, the "K99" ice cream it serves is made with dog-friendly ingredients.

The flavors were reportedly designed for the doggie palate, while a team of scientists came up with just the right temperature, texture and taste to feed your dog's ice cream appetite safely.

The London Evening Standard reported that two flavors created especially for a free afternoon event are "Dog Eat Hog World," made from gammon and chicken sorbet, and "Canine Cookie Crunch," which consists of dog biscuits mixed with ice cream.

The doggie ice cream van even plays the "Scooby Doo" theme song instead of driving by with an irritating chime like the traditional children's neighborhood ice cream truck.

And it looks like a few dog owners on this side of the pond are keen for the ice cream truck for the dogs to be introduced in The States.

According to The Stir blog, one dog owner admits to giving her dog regular human ice cream on occasion – since her vet said it was okay.

"She luuuuuuuves ice cream, so I've been known to cave in occasionally," wrote the Café Mom blogger.
