PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Democratic candidate for Providence mayor Chris Young sings an original tune with tape recorder background music during a segment called "Coffee with the Candidates’ on FOX Providence.
Young broke into the song after he was asked what he does in his free time around town. He said he goes to the Catholic Church, but writes songs for fun. That’s when Young took out a tape recorder playing guitar chords, explaining the news station wouldn’t let his guitarist come in for the segment.
Young’s fiancée, Kara J. Russo, is also running for political office. She is running for Congress and lieutenant governor. Young proposed to her during a mayoral debate Tuesday night.
Lyrics
To the rich man who stands in his house
High upon the hill
The chains that bind you, the flames surround you
For the price you have received
Look at all those riches
And are they worth the cost
Are you lost?
To rich to see Jesus in the poor
Are you lost?
To far to see Jesus from where you are
To the pouring rain in prison and in slave
Be not afraid
It is the son of God who stands with you
And are you lost?
