School Visit

Ask a FOX25 Meteorologist!

How did you become a meteorologist? What tools do you use to predict the weather? Can you tell us more about the Green Screen? The FOX25 Meteorologists are ready to answer your questions, live! This year, the FOX25 weather team looks forward to connecting with more students and schools than ever before. That’s why we’re offering “Weather Q&A on Skype” chats with classrooms and students studying weather units.

Here’s How It Works:

Your must have the ability to Skype from your classroom to our FOX25 Weather Center. Have your students come up with 5 - 10 weather questions for Cindy, A.J. or Kevin to answer during a “Weather Q&A on Skype” call and submit the online request form. If your school is selected, one of our meteorologists will answer your weather questions, live! You’ll receive an email from us confirming the details of your Skype chat and the “set up” details. Here are the basics you need for a Skype call:

  • A Windows or Mac computer
  • Broadband (high speed) internet connection.
  • A built-in or external webcam for video calls
  • Amplified external speakers connected to the computer so that all students can hear the chat.
  • Ability to download Skype from Skype.com and run and test the installation.
  • Ability to test the connection prior to the scheduled chat

What Else Do I Need To Know?

“Weather Q&A on Skype” is for schools in the Massachusetts and New Hampshire viewing areas of FOX25 and is ideal for classrooms with 25 students or less. We cannot accommodate large groups or assemblies. Each Q&A session lasts about 15 -20 minutes. Due to the high volume of requests, we cannot arrange for a chat with a specific meteorologist. The date and time options for “Weather Q&A on Skype” chats are listed on the request form. We can accommodate grades 2 to 6. We cannot guarantee a rescheduled visit in the event a confirmed visit is cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances (Illness, school closings).

Your “Weather Q&A on Skype” session may be recorded by WFXT and shown on FOX25 News or myfoxboston.com. Schools are responsible for enforcing their own privacy policy regarding media visits with the school if applicable. If there are children attending the Skype chat who do not have any required releases on file with the school, it is the school’s responsibility to remove those students during the taping portion of the presentation.
