Vermont State Police are examining a human skull found in an embankment in Danby, Vermont.
According to investigators, the skull was found by a driver on Feb. 12. Thus far, tests have concluded that the skull belongs to a young Caucasian woman and it has been in the location for a long period of time.
Police also believe signs of trauma to the skull could mean that whoever the skull belongs to died in a homicide. However, they are not ruling out the possibility of the skull having been removed from a nearby graveyard.
If it wasn’t taken from a grave, the discovery could bring a close to one of many missing persons cases taking place in New England in the past few years.
