Three more dolphins that stranded near a country club in Wellfleet were rescued and released on Monday morning.
The IFAW which has been actively rescuing dolphins from the Cape Cod Bay since January responded to the Chequesset Yacht and Country Club in Wellfleet at approximately 8:15 a.m. for reports that three dolphins had become stranded.
Rescue crews brought the dolphins to their trailers and ran extensive health assessments before releasing the dolphins at Scusset Beach in Bourne around 2:30 p.m.
A satellite tag was attached to one of the dolphin’s dorsal fins so that the IFAW could track the dolphins’ location for the next few days.
Thus far, the total number of dolphins that have stranded is up to 166. Of those, 106 were found dead. Of the 60 found alive, 43 were released successfully.
