A Sandwich police officer who hit a light pole with his own car and then allegedly failed to report the crash to his own police department last winter has not been charged.

Recently-surfaced reports say that Officer Michael Hoadley was drinking before the crash. According to the Cape Cod Times, Hoadley had three drinks before getting behind the wheel.

So far, no criminal charges have been filed against the 23-year veteran of the force.

However, the department does acknowledge that Hoadley violated several police conduct codes and state law by leaving the scene of an accident.
