The ongoing saga of reputed mobster Mark Rossetti, who was also an FBI informant, has taken a new twist.
Congressman Stephen Lynch (D-Massachusetts) has been demanding answers from the FBI about whether the feds knew Rossetti was allegedly committing crimes, while he was working as an informant.
Lynch appeared on Fox25 Morning News today, saying he's not getting anywhere with the FBI.
“There was a relationship there with the FBI and during that time, for some period of it, Mr. Rossetti is alleged to have engaged in extortion, heroin trafficking, some suspect maybe even connected to some homicides. Those are all allegations. So what we're trying to figure out is what conduct did he engage in while he was in this formal relationship as an informant with the FBI,” said Rep. Lynch.
“We've been back and forth with the FBI. They're concerned about disclosing to me facts of an ongoing investigation so we're sort of at odds on this.”
Congressman Lynch says he now has a meeting scheduled with the FBI in Washington, DC.
No comment from the FBI on this standoff between the bureau and the congressman.
