Boston Mayor Tom Menino is reportedly eager to welcome a resort-style casino to the city.
Mayor Menino told media at the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce that Suffolk Downs is the "perfect location" for a new casino.
The mayor says the horse track in East Boston is a natural choice since it's close to the convention center and the airport. However, Suffolk Downs will have some stiff competition, since Patriots owner Robert Kraft and casino mogul Steve Wynn are eyeing a license to build in Foxboro.
"I try to stay out of politics. I'm down here [Foxboro] because I realize I didn't have to deal with politicians when we built our stadium," Kraft told FOX 25. "Whether one location is better than another location, I'll leave that up to you objective people and the facts to decide."
The casino law signed by Governor Deval Patrick allows only one casino license for that region of the state.
