Japanese police arrested a suspected armed robber who wore a diaper on his head as a makeshift ski mask, law enforcement authorities and local media said Monday.
The 55-year-old South Korean man is accused of holding up a store armed with a knife in late August and making his getaway with 141,000 yen ($1,700), police said.
The robber used a diaper with eyeholes cut out of it to mask his face, the Japanese tabloid Sports Hochi reported. He made off on foot with his haul but had to remove the diaper while running away because he failed to cut breathing holes in it, the report said.
The man turned himself in to authorities Sunday after police visited his house twice.
