Officials in Louisiana acted quickly to remove vines on a telephone pole after it was reported that it looked like Jesus reported the Telegraph.
Drivers along Highway 26 began reporting the telephone pole saying that they were seeing a resemblance to Jesus hanging on it. Once word got out, officials began to worry that not only would people try to climb and get close to "Jesus," but that the cluster of vines would create a safety hazard.
Electrical engineer Mike Heinen said, "For public safety concerns we don't want anybody trying to climb the pole or trying to touch the vines."
The pole had already been marked to be cleared of the vines before the sighting was reported.
Hathaway, La. resident Ricky Navarre was glad that he got a chance to witness the image. He told news station KPLC-TV, "It just caught my eye. I said to myself, that sure looks like an image of Jesus hanging from the telephone pole."
Navarre looked at it as a sign of comfort and believed it was a message.
"He might just be telling us something, you know. 'I'm looking over you. I'm going to answer your prayers'," he said.
Although this latest Jesus image sighting is gone, there are still others to be witnessed.
The Stir reported that the "Jesus Tortilla" from 1978 can still be appreciated by purchasing a t-shirt with the image from the website Jesustortilla.com. The site states, "Mario Rubio, rolling a burrito, notices skillet burns on a tortilla resembling the face of Jesus Christ."
