A Northbridge resident got quite a surprise when a four-foot python ended up inside the engine compartment of her car yesterday afternoon.
Police say they received a call around 3:54 p.m. reporting a large snake under a vehicle at 181 North Main St.
Officer Brian Patrinelli and Northbridge Animal Control Officer Dan Chauvin responded to the residence finding the snake, which had crawled into the engine of a car, apparently seeking warmth. The snake had tightly wrapped itself around the engine block.
The animal control officer spent about 30 minutes before the snake would relax its grip so it could be removed.
No word on where the snake came from or who owned it, but it is know safely in the hands of animal control.
If no one comes forward as the owner, the snake will be put up for adoption.
