Carriage Road-Rage In NYC

Posted:

An irate pedicab driver was arrested and charged with assault for punching a carriage-horse driver in New York's Central Park, law enforcement sources said Sunday.

Yacouba Coulibaly, 34, was pedaling on Fifth Avenue near 60th Street on Friday morning when he got stuck behind a slow-poke carriage horse. When he tried to pass, the carriage clipped his bike, Coulibaly said. "I grabbed the reins and said, 'Stop! Please stop, or I'm calling the cops," he said.

But when carriage driver Dermot Kelley, 28, pulled up, the two men started throwing punches, they both admitted.

"The pedicabs have to adhere to the rules same as everyone else. I told him to let go of the horse, and as soon as I jumped down he hit me," said Kelley, sporting a black eye.
