Students at one Utah high school are being forced to pay up if they're late to class.

A new policy went in to place this week at one Salt Lake City high school that charges students $5 for being late to a class.

Students can also spend a half hour in detention if they don't want to pay the fine.

The school's principal says teachers have seen an immediate change in behavior since the policy went into effect.
