Ever thought about voting naked? If you live in Illinois, now you can, thanks to a bi-partisan campaign to encourage young voters to vote, and vote early. The campaign is called Vote Naked Illinois.
The Vote Naked campaign, a project by the Equality Illinois Education Project, is sending a message to voters to take advantage of the new system that allows voters to send in an absentee ballot through the mail for the November 2 elections.
In partnership with Rock the Vote and Roosevelt University, Vote Naked is getting the word out through their own Facebook page and a YouTube promotional video. Their slogan is, "It's so easy, you can vote naked," according to Time Out Chicago.
Photos featured on Time Out Chicago show naked people in the comfort of their homes voting with strategically placed items to hide their nudity.
The YouTube video features those same people saying what they get naked for. One woman says she gets naked for "clean air." If you register for the absentee ballot on the campaign's Facebook page, you too can check what you get naked for.
The Illinois Statehouse News stated that they are hoping that this new law for early voting that also requires county clerks to establish early voting registration booths on the state's nine public university campuses, will get more young voters out there.
Will the Vote Naked campaign increase voter turnout? It's hard to say, but Larry Reinhardt, Jackson County clerk in southern Illinois, said he expects to see an increase from the normal 20 percent he sees in early voting for his area, The Illinois Statehouse News reported.
