Chicago's Most Wanted Officer Bailey Shooting Suspect

It’s been two weeks since Chicago Police Officer Michael Bailey was gunned down outside his Park Manor home. He had just finished his shift guarding Mayor Daley's house.

With no suspects in custody, the Chicago FBI is now announcing a $50,000 reward for any information leading to the identification or arrest of the person or persons responsible for killing Officer Bailey. This amount, combined with money being offered by other police and community organizations, brings the reward to total to approximately $130,000.

Chicago police and FBI agents are working together to solve this crime. Investigators say Bailey was shot in the early morning hours of July 18th. He had just returned home from work when agents say he was accosted by one or more assailants. They are not sure if the suspects wanted Bailey's money, his car or other valuables. Investigators also believe Bailey fired his gun several times at the suspects as they were fleeing; they do not know if any of them were hit. Bailey was shot and later died. At one point, police questioned three possible suspects in connection with this case but later released them. The FBI's Ross Rice says agents don’t have any specific names of suspects but they do have a fairly detailed physical description of one of them Rice adds they are offering a reward hoping that someone in the public who knows what happened will contact them.

Here is a description of what witnesses say the suspected gunman looks like. He is described as a black male, 18-24 years old, about six feet tall, weighing around 160 pounds, With a medium- dark complexion, and has a short fade style haircut.

He is considered armed and dangerous. If you see him, call police.
