CHELSEA (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A police pursuit that began in Saugus ended with a crash Friday in Chelsea, authorities said.
The incident began when police tried to stop a car being driven by 43-year-old Gregory Ferrara, of Boston, near the Square One Mall. It's unclear if police were running plates or had witnessed the infraction, but Ferrara took off, leading police on a chase.
Police say Ferrara hit two vehicles. The pursuit ended on the Carter Street ramp, off Route 1 in Chelsea, after the suspect's vehicle side-swiped one car and rear-ended a second, causing the second vehicle, a pickup truck, to roll over.
Ferrara was taken to a local hospital and then released.
According to police, Ferrara has outstanding assault and battery and larceny charges. He also has a long driving record.
The pickup truck that rolled over belongs to LEA Equipment in Medford. A dog that was inside that vehicle went missing during the incident, but the owner and "Timber" were later reunited.
