Police say a 32-year-old southeast Michigan woman has died after her husband strangled her during an argument over money in front of their three daughters.
The incident happened Tuesday night on Potomac Street. Southfield Police Lieutenant Nick Loussia says they got a 911 call from the children who said their mom and dad were fighting and that their father had their mother in a chokehold..
Southfield 911 dispatchers could hear the girls begging their father to stop..
Loussia says the children actually jumped on their father and got him to let go of their mother, but it was already too late..
The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later. The 38-year old father left the home and went into Detroit where he was arrested without incident a short time later..
The children, ages 8, 11 and 16, were not physically injured. They were taken to their grandmother's house..
While some neighbors told FOX 2's Alexis Wiley they did not see this coming, others say police had been called to the home before..
Police would not confirm whether the couple had a history of domestic abuse..
Investigators say the man could be arraigned as early as Wednesday. Look for continuing updates on this story on FOX 2 News and on myFOXDetroit.com.
