(WJBK) -- Thanksgiving is most famously known for the turkey, but the side dishes can be just as mouthwatering as the main dish. Here's a family recipe that you can share with loved ones this holiday season.
Recipe: -peel, cut and boil approx 6-8 sweet potatoes [about 3 cups] -drain them and mash them
Add the following to your cooled potatoes: 1/2 cup sugar 2 eggs [if potatoes are too hot you'll cook the egg which you don't want to do!] 1 teaspoon vanilla 1/3 cup butter Put the potato combo in a 3 quart casserole!
Topping: 1 cup brown sugar 1 cup coconut [I leave this out because some don't like coconut] 1 cup chopped pecans 1/3 cup flour 1/3 cup soft butter
Blend this with a fork and put on top of potatoes and cook at 350 degrees uncovered for 30 minutes.
