LYNN, Mass. (AP) - A 27-year-old Lynn man has been charged with first-degree murder in the 2007 killing of a woman found dead with a plastic bag over her head.
Prosecutors said fingerprints on the bag and DNA evidence under her fingernails matched Joshua Rivera. He pleaded not guilty Monday in Lynn District Court and is held without bail. Rivera's lawyer declined to comment afterward.
Police said 27-year-old Lara Rizzo was found in her bedroom by her father, Stephen Rizzo. He told police he didn't know if she had left their apartment since he had last seen her the evening before.
The Boston Globe reports a police report filed in court said officers found a television and air conditioner were running, and there was evidence of alcohol and marijuana use, and pizza boxes, in her room.
