Zimmerman back in jail, attorney seeks new hearing

Posted: Updated:

MIAMI (AP) — George Zimmerman's attorney says he expects to file a motion Monday seeking a new bond hearing for Trayvon Martin's shooter.

The 28-year-old Zimmerman is behind bars again after surrendering to authorities in central Florida on Sunday, two days after a judge revoked his bond.

Circuit Court Judge Kenneth Lester said Friday that he believed Zimmerman and his wife had lied to the court in April about their finances to get a lower bond.

Defense attorney Mark O'Mara said Sunday that the defense looks forward to explaining what happened, and possibly apologizing, to the judge.

Zimmerman, a former neighborhood watch volunteer, is charged with second-degree murder in the fatal shooting February of Martin, an unarmed black teenager, in a gated community in Sanford.

Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty, claiming self-defense.
