BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – The Massachusetts House of Representatives is set to debate a bill Tuesday that would heavily tax cigars, chewing tobacco, soda and other sweet drinks.
The goal of the excess taxes would be to shave $160 billion in health care costs over the next 15 years.
Under the bill, a tax would be applied to soda and juice drinks with less than 50 percent natural fruit or vegetable juice.
