FOXBOROUGH (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) Chad Ochocinco took to Twitter to bid farewell to his fans on Thursday after being released by the New England Patriots less than one year after he arrived.
Several reports confirmed that the Patriots wide receiver was to be released following unsuccessful attempts at trading him throughout the day.
Shortly after reports surfaced, Chad took to Twitter.
"@Ochocinco: Thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to play for the 'Patriot' organization... fans were wicked awesome, I wish all of you the best."
He also added "unemployed" to his Twitter bio.
The 34-year-old struggled during his year with the Patriots, with only one touchdown and 276 yards in the 2011 season.
His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, tells the Associated Press he is "in the process of gauging interest from potential teams."
