WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich. (WJBK) -

It was a hot, sunny weekend in Metro Detroit. Many people headed to local pools and lakes. But, there were two frightening incidents on Cass Lake. Thankfully, residents came to the rescue.

A 3-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital. Witnesses say he accidentally hit the throttle on a jet ski and slammed into a dock in West Bloomfield. His parents were nearby. But, it happened fast.

"He was kind of starting to go into shock. I could see he had a large cut on his face," said one neighbor who performed CPR. "He was bleeding from his nose and bleeding from his mouth."

Around the same time, in Waterford, people on another Cass Lake beach were rushing to help a woman who lost consciousness while swimming. She may have suffered a seizure. Beach goers were able to pull her out of the water and revive her. In both cases, the people who got into trouble were helped by strangers with the proper emergency training. It's a frightening reminder - early in the season - how quickly a day of fun can take a dramatic turn. Thankfully, we're told both victims will recover.
