BOSTON (AP) - Secretary of State William Galvin is welcoming schoolchildren and visitors from across Massachusetts to Flag Day ceremonies at the Statehouse.
The Thursday morning event will begin with Galvin leading the Pledge of Allegiance and include a talk about the history of the nation's flag. Pamphlets with information on the flag will be distributed at the ceremony.
Students from Smith Middle School in South Hadley, the Thompson School in North Andover and the Atlantis Charter School in Fall River are expected to attend.
A group from Crittendon Women's Union, a social services provider, think tank and advocacy organization, is also expected to participate.
