
NEWBURYPORT (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – The co-owner of a downtown boutique in Newburyport is accused in a string of home break-ins.
According to Newburyport News, 40-year-old Richard Allen Morrell, of Newburyport, was arrested a gunpoint Wednesday afternoon outside his home after police obtained search warrants to inspect his home, car and the Pleasant Street boutique.
Morrell is charged with one count of receiving stolen property more than $250 after police stopped him in his BMW outside his Horton Street home.
Newburyport Police Lt. Richard Siemasko told the newspaper Morrell is suspected of stealing items in a series of breaks in Enfield, N.H., and Lebanon, N.H.
Morrell is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday in Newburyport District Court. He is expected to meet with New Hampshire law enforcement for questioning following his arraignment.
Newburyport News says Morrell and his female companion have owned Vintage Diva, which advertises itself as a seller of antique furniture, vintage clothing and home decor for at least six months.
