(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A Hopkinton man appeared in court on Thursday after he reportedly assaulted his girlfriend's 10-year-old autistic son; however, instead of defending her son in court, the girlfriend went to bat for her boyfriend.
Barry Posternak was released on $500 cash bail, but is required to stay away from the boy for at least three months.
According to police, the young boy's biological father called police. When police arrived to the house, they saw a red welt on the boy's neck. The injuries were not serious and did not require hospitalization.
Police then arrested Posternak; however, the boy's mother claims the entire incident is a misunderstanding. She said in court that her son was the one who attacked her boyfriend, and due to his autism, he needs to be restrained on occasion.
Posternak is charged with assault and battery on a child causing injury, and assault and battery.
