FOX 25 has learned more about the Waltham Police Chief who is under arrest for allegedly assaulting both his wife and a female neighbor.

Chief Thomas Lacroix pleaded not guilty on Friday to charges that he attacked victims using a bike rack and a counter top.

Lacroix was arraigned from his hospital bed after complaining of chest pains.

FOX 25 has learned that the judge who oversaw the arraignment, Judge Lynn Rooney-Brennan is the daughter of late former Waltham Police Chief John Rooney.

Sources tell FOX 25 former Chief Rooney and Chief Lacroix worked closely with each other prior to Rooney's passing in 2008.

Lacroix is on paid leave and is being held without bail pending a court hearing on Tuesday.
