BOSTON (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A woman accused of stabbing another woman to death in South Boston has been sent for a competency evaluation.
Sara Kelly was scheduled to be arraigned Monday in South Boston District Court for allegedly killing Shannon McCormick Friday night, but her arraignment has been postponed at least until her next scheduled court date of July 6.
Police say the two women knew each other and got into a fight inside an apartment on East 9th St. Kelly allegedly stabbed the victim twice in the chest.
Police suspect drugs may have played a role in this, which would make it the fourth drug related death in Southie this year. At this time last year, there were zero.
Kelly was sent to Solomon Carter Fuller Center after initial observation by a court clinician.
