"Madagascar 3: Europe's Most Wanted" took the top spot for the second weekend in row. The animated film brought in $35.5 million.
Ridley Scott's alien saga "Prometheus" came in second with $20 million.
The star-studded musical "Rock of Ages" with Tom Cruise and Catherine Zeta-Jones was a flop, debuting in a disappointing third.
"Snow White and the Huntsman" and Adam Sandler's "That's My Boy" round out the top five.
