BOSTON (AP) - A Massachusetts workforce official is scheduled to visit a New Bedford company to highlight its focus on workforce development.
Joanne Goldstein, the secretary of the Massachusetts Executive Office of Labor and Workforce Development, will visit Darn It!, a family-owned distribution and refurbishment business on Monday.
In December, the company received a $90,000 Workforce Training Fund grant to increase employee productivity, efficiency and knowledge.
The grant has allowed the company to train more than 50 employees and improve plant operations. It also has allowed the company to create new full-time jobs, promote employees and increase wages.
Goldstein said Friday that Darn It! exemplifies the "resilience and ingenuity" in Massachusetts companies.
The Workforce Training Fund has helped train 90,000 Massachusetts workers since 2007. It is financed entirely by Massachusetts employers.
