(FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – Time is running out for Kevin Youkilis. Sources are saying Youk could be traded by the end of the week.
He is a fan favorite. And the trade talks have reportedly intensified over the past 24-48 hours. One high ranking league official told FOX Sports that Youkilis is being "shopped everywhere."
The Red Sox are reportedly willing to include cash to make a deal.
Right now it's unclear where Youk will end up, but FOX sources says the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, Cleveland Indians and Pittsburgh Pirates have all expressed interest in acquiring the three-time All Star.
Youkilis has been hampered by a lower back strain for most of the year. He is having his worst start of his career.
The Red Sox owners are also under pressure to make some changes. The team is currently in last place in the American League East.
Youk has spent his entire career with the Sox and was a member of the 2004 and 2007 championship teams. His ties to Massachusetts run even deeper. He's now married to Tom Brady's sister and reportedly expecting a baby.
