Westwood police look for car in hit-and-run

WESTWOOD (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) – A female pedestrian remains hospitalized after being struck by a car in the vicinity of 400 Washington Street in Westwood on Monday night.

Westwood Police received a call around 8:52 p.m. on Monday that someone had been hit by a car near 400 Washington Street.

When police arrived they found 26-year-old Jillian Belanger.  Belanger was walking her dog when she was struck by a vehicle while in t he southbound lane of Washington Street.

Belanger was transported to a Boston hospital with serious injuries.

According to a witness, the victim's dog was also hurt.

The vehicle that struck the victim fled the scene without stopping.  The vehicle which is believed to be a mid-sized white or light colored four door sedan is believed to have sustained front-end damage. 

The Westwood Police and Massachusetts State Police Accident Reconstruction Team are actively working the investigation.
