FALL RIVER (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) The Fall River pool where a woman's body went unnoticed for two days re-opened on Saturday.
The Vietnam Veterans Pool at Lafayette Park in Fall River has been closed since last summer's tragedy.
In light of what happened, the pool has undergone a major $600,000 renovation. The deep end has been reduced from 12 feet to five and a half and the slide has been removed. It is also now handicapped accessible.
Lifeguards will clear the pool whenever the new design on the bottom of the pool is no longer visible.
Commissioner Ed Lambert says this was all done to improve safety.
Marie Joseph drowned while visiting the pool during the summer of 2011. Her body went unnoticed on the bottom of the pool for days.
