NORTHAMPTON (AP) - A western Massachusetts man has pleaded not guilty to charges of improper disposal of a body and misleading authorities in connection with the weekend disappearance of his girlfriend.
Thirty-six-year-old Jeb Daly Sr. of Huntington was ordered held on $100,000 bail at his arraignment Monday in Northampton District Court.
Prosecutor Steven Gagne said Daly was the last person to see 30-year-old Jessica Dana after they had argued at a gathering at their home on Friday night. Gagne said Daly told people she left the house Friday night, and he reported her missing on Saturday.
Gagne said Daly fled when police found a body behind the house in a cardboard box Sunday night. He was arrested by state police who used a car belonging to a family member to approach him.
The body has not been formally identified.
