WORCESTER (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - A Worcester woman woke up with a jolt on Monday morning after lightning struck her June Street home and reportedly sent a shock through her cell phone to her arm.
Around 9:30 a.m. on Monday, Judy Solomon was using her iPhone to check Google and Facebook when a bolt of lightning hit the side of her home and sent a shock through her phone which was charging.
Solomon called her brother because she could smell the smoke, but could not locate the source of the smell.
Firefighters responded to 40 June Street and found where the lightning hit. The lightning went through siding and wood and damaged a wire inside the house.
Fire officials urge everyone to use caution when operating appliances during storms.
