
WELLESLEY (FOX 25 / MyFoxBoston.com) - Police in Wellesley are searching for a moose that was spotted in a residential neighborhood on Monday afternoon.
The Wellesley Police Department received several calls about a moose spotted in the area of Reeds Pond and Upson Road around 11:51 a.m. on Monday.
Officers responded to the area, but were unable to locate the moose.
Around 1:21 p.m., the moose was seen again in the area of Parker Road.
The Massachusetts Environmental Police were called in to assist, and followed tracks in the area of Lexington Road to Shirley Road; however, despite their efforts, they were unable to keep up with the moose.
The moose does not appear to be a full grown adult and is approximately 500-600 pounds.
Officials are asking the public to not approach the moose and to avoid scaring the moose into traffic where it could cause harm to itself or others.
The Wellesley Police Department is asking that if anyone sees the moose to call the Emergency Communications Center at 781-235-1212.
