GROVELAND (AP) - The fire chief for the town of Danvers faces charges following an alleged assault on his estranged wife in Groveland.
Kevin Farrell was arrested early Wednesday on charges of domestic assault and battery and intimidation of a witness.
Groveland police said the incident at the home of Farrell's estranged wife was called in to police by the couple's daughter.
Police said the woman was not physically injured. Farrell allegedly left the home with her cell phone.
Farrell was arrested at his own apartment in Groveland, but was later taken to a hospital for treatment of an unspecified medical condition. He was arraigned later Wednesday and is being held until his until dangerousness hearing on Friday due to suicidal statements that he made in front of his wife and daughter.
Farrell was appointed fire chief in Danvers last year.
